Jim Johnson is a friend of ours from South Hills days. He had a serious accident, and--being self-employed--needs help with medical bills and lost income.
I'm setting up this GoFundMe to help him meet those expenses: Given the seriousness of the injury, he's going to need a lot of help: The ambulance alone was more than $3000!

To my many friends that don't know, on November 12 I was putting a tarp on our motorhome to protect it from rain forecast for the next day. I was using a ladder on our driveway that is on an incline. I gave a hard push on the tarp to push it over the top. The ladder fell to the left. I jumped back trying to land on my feet but I landed on my right side, head and right elbow. I was in severe pain and could not get up. Blood pooled on the concrete from my head injury. I laid on the concrete for about 10 minutes before a neighbor saw me and Leisa came outside to tell me something.
I waited about another 10 minutes for an ambulance. I had a difficult time to breathe and the pain was extreme. The EMT stuck a big needle in my right lung on the way to the hospital to relieve pressure. I was in the emergency room for 5 hours where at least 20 people worked on me. I had x-rays and a cat scan.
I had 7 broken ribs. I was taken to a room but it was in the trauma unit intensive care. I asked the nurse what my condition was listed as. She said critical and it sort of freaked me out. She said I had to be monitored because my right lung had partially collapsed and there was fluid in and around my right lung and I might need emergency surgery.
A day and a half later I was taken to a regular room. I was not allowed to eat or drink anything for the first 2 days. I was in the hospital 5 days. The hospital is not a place to get rest. On the third day I had a big do not disturb sign put on my door so I could get some sleep through the night.
I am home and making a great recovery. Thanks for all the prayers, texts and calls. Also, thank you to all the people that are supporting our non-profit with food outreaches, forest fire survivor assistance and campus outreaches.
There are a number of projects around our house that I will not be able to do for a while and we could use help with. If you would like to help, please call or private message me. Thank you and blessings to your life
