Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out today to ask for your support for my dear friend Jim — a kind, resilient, and generous person who’s going through an incredibly difficult chapter in his life.

At the end of last year, Jim was excited to start a new job he had been looking forward to — a fresh beginning with a lot of promise. But just as things were starting to look up, life threw a series of unimaginable challenges his way.

Jim was in a serious car accident that totaled his vehicle and landed him in the hospital for a week. Not long after that, he was hospitalized again with heart and respiratory failure. As if that wasn’t enough, he had to relocate due to a major personal event, adding more emotional and financial stress to an already heavy load.

Recently, Jim suffered a frightening fall in his apartment caused by a dangerous drop in blood pressure. The fall resulted in multiple serious injuries: a fractured tibia, fibula, and all five metatarsals in his foot were broken, plus there were several fractures in his upper jaw. He spent another week in the hospital, where an incredible surgical team in West Michigan helped put him back together.

Following that, Jim entered inpatient rehabilitation at Mary Free Bed, where he worked hard to regain strength and plan for his recovery at home — including adapting to life in a wheelchair and walker, with at least 12 weeks of being non-weight-bearing on his injured leg.

Through all of this, Jim has remained brave and hopeful, but the truth is: he’s been unable to work and unable to help cover the mounting medical and living expenses. He’s exhausted every option he has, and now he needs a hand to get through this.

Jim has always been the kind of person who gives with his whole heart — especially to animals in need. He’s a passionate advocate for rescue animals and has opened his home and heart to many over the years.

Now it’s our turn to give back to someone who has given so much to others.
