Jim Klein is a devoted father who has spent the last five years fighting to remain a meaningful part of his son James’s life. Despite his deep love and commitment, he is currently limited to just two hours of supervised visitation each week.

Jim is also supposed to have an additional schedule of 10 hours of unsupervised visits per month with James. However, he can no longer access this time because the person originally approved by his ex-wife to supervise or facilitate these visits is no longer able to do so. Since then, his ex-wife and her attorney have not responded to Jim’s requests for an alternative approved family member, friend, or location, leaving him unable to exercise this portion of his parenting time.

Throughout this time, Jim has done everything the court has asked of him—complying with every requirement, including undergoing evaluations by court-appointed professionals, all of whom have agreed there is no reason he should not have at minimum 50/50 custody of James. Even so, he continues to face ongoing legal challenges and what he believes are false allegations and misleading claims that have significantly affected his ability to have more time with his son.

At this time, Jim does not have a lawyer and has been trying to navigate the family court system on his own. He needs an initial retainer fee of $2,500 just to get started with legal representation.

Compounding this situation, Jim has been unable to work consistently for the past four years due to a serious construction injury, recently leading him to file for bankruptcy. With no steady income, he is still required to make child support payments while trying to manage this difficult legal battle.

James means everything to Jim, and their bond is strong. Any funds raised will go directly toward helping Jim retain a qualified family court attorney who can advocate on his behalf and work toward securing custody of his son and a fair, balanced parenting arrangement.
