Help Jim Build a Ramp to Reclaim Joy

My name is Jim, and I’ve always tried to be the one lending a hand. In 2018, I went in for knee-replacement surgery, but things took a turn when I contracted MRSA in the hospital. That led to six months of hospitalization and rehab, and my severe immunodeficiency has meant regular infections, more hospital stays, and, in 2023, an amputation. Now, I find myself confined to a wheelchair, facing new challenges every day.

One of the hardest parts has been losing access to my backyard, where I used to garden and play with my rescue dogs. Those moments brought me so much joy and peace, and I miss them deeply. I have a friend who’s willing to help build a concrete ramp so I can get outside again, but as someone who’s mostly retired, I simply can’t afford the materials. I’ve reached out to government agencies, but there’s no help available.

I’ve always had a hard time asking for help—I’m more comfortable being the helper. But I know how good it feels to support someone in need, and right now, I’m hoping others might feel good by helping me. Any support you can offer will make a real difference in my life, and I’m deeply grateful for your kindness.
