Hi there, my name is Jim Curley, and in September I am spending the month volunteering at Our Rainbow House.
Our Rainbow House is a registered charity in both Australia and Zambia. The charity is committed to providing quality education and nutrition to orphans and vulnerable children in a village on the outskirts of Lusaka, Zambia. The students have the opportunity to learn in a safe environment where they are taught the Zambian National Curriculum. In addition to this, all students receive two meals a day during school and are provided with food for the school holidays.
A wonderful team of local Zambian staff including teachers, guards, cooks and a Project Coordinator are employed to run the school. They also have staff and dedicated volunteers that administer the charity from our Australian office in Emerald, QLD.
The school desperately needs new sporting equipment for their netball and soccer teams.
Equipment they have identified as needing:
Soccer balls
Netball balls
20 x flat cones
20 x big cones
20 x soccer socks
20 x soccer boots
The total value of these items comes to approximately $1150 Australian.
Any small or large amount you are able to donate will help me purchase new sporting goods to take to Zambia with me. Any funds in excess raised will be donated directly to the charity.
