Help Jim Bowers Beat Cancer

Donation protected
On February 14, 2017, our friend and colleague Jim Bowers underwent surgery for a recent illness and a malignant tumor was discovered in his colon.  He and his family and friends heard the news all of us dread.
Since hearing the devastating news, Jim and his strong supporters of family, friends and co-workers have started a mission to BEAT this nasty disease TOGETHER!
Jim and his wife Tracie have been married 25 years, and have three outstanding children:  Ryan, Taylor and Jake (10yo).  They have also been blessed with Ryan's wife, Megan, and their wonderful granddaughter Addie.  Jim's mom, dad, and brothers are also actively involved in helping him beat this disease, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Jim has been employed by Plano Police Department for 20 years, and is an outstanding employee and leader in the Detention Unit.  Not only is he a colleague, he is a TRUE friend who we all love dearly.  We cannot wait to have him back in the swing of things at work!

On February 26, 2017, Jim returned to the hospital via the ER with an infection in his abdomen.  He is currently still in the hospital, but his spirits are high and his condition is improving.

As you all know, medical treatment is extremely expensive.  Jim and his family have been plagued with the cost of this ugly disease and will continue to face significant expenses during his treatment.  Further, Tracie's employment  does not offer the generous benefits of City employees and much of the time off she has taken, and will take, to care for her husband will be without pay.

Jim and his family would never ask for help, so I have taken it upon myself to ask for them, as his "boss", and more important, as his FRIEND.  Jim adds such passion, warmth and genuine friendship to our work environment.  All of you who know him can attest to what a special man he truly is, and it is up to us to show he and his family, in any way we are able, that we are WITH HIM in this battle, and that we are with him UNTIL he BEATS this nasty disease.

This is not a sprint - It is a marathon.  Jim, his wife, his children and grandaughter, his parents, his siblings and his friends will need ongoing emotional support. We can also help by easing their financial burden so it is one less thing they have to worry about.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and to support Jim and his family in BEATING this horrific disease!!!

Now is the time to act on behalf of Jim as March is National Colon Cancer Awareness Month.  Do not neglect your colonoscopy and find out if colon cancer runs in your family!!
