Benefit for Jim and Debbie Russell

Dear friends and community,

It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news that our dear friends, Jim and Debbie Russell, tragically lost their home in a house fire on January 15, 2025. As many of you know, Jim and Debbie are pillars of our community and have dedicated their lives to helping others.

Jim and Debbie are both retired school teachers, with Debbie serving for an incredible 38 years in education and Jim for 30 years. After retiring from teaching, Jim continued his commitment to serving others by becoming an EMT and working with the New Madrid County Ambulance District for 10 years. Additionally, Jim has been an integral part of the New Madrid Fire Department for over 38 years, helping to keep our community safe.

On the day of the fire, Debbie was on her way to pick Jim up from the hospital after he had undergone knee replacement surgery. Tragically, their home was engulfed in flames, and they were unable to return. It’s heartbreaking to think that while Jim and Debbie have spent their lives helping others in their time of need, they now find themselves in the same position.

Jim and Debbie are the type of people who would give you the shirt off their backs, and their kindness and generosity have touched so many lives. It’s time for us to return the favor and support them during this incredibly difficult time.
