On September 1st Hurricane Ida swept through Bucks County, PA dumping between 7 & 9 inches of rain in just a few hours. By the middle of the night, September 2nd, which happened to be their anniversary, Jim & Allison McMullen and their two kids, Liam (8) and Fiona (5), and their two dogs, awoke to see water seeping into their Quakertown, PA home from all sides. It soon rose to an estimated 6 to 8 inches. They saved what they could by moving it upstairs, but many things were unable to be moved. Jim, who has lived in the house his whole life, has never seen the water come anywhere near this high before.
As the flood waters receded, they immediately ripped out affected flooring and baseboard trim and many personal items damaged by floating in the flood waters and now those need to be replaced. Days later, they are now removing 8 inches of drywall and insulation from the walls that is still sopping wet. They will need to replace the drywall, insulation and paint, etc. They are now assessing what furniture and other household fixtures need to be replaced, as they rebuild their home. They found out today that just the cost of replacing 3 exterior entry doors will be $1100!! No flood insurance had ever been purchased for the home.
Please donate to help Jim, Allison, Liam & Fiona McMullen rebuild their home. They can use funds immediately and any amount will help and encourage them in the rebuilding process. Since we have never seen flooding like this in this neighborhood, there was no flood insurance on the home. Thank you for your support.
