Hello Everyone,

My name is Kayla Lobermeier, Jill Haupt's daughter.

Our family is reaching out during one of the most difficult moments of our lives.

My mom, Jill, a talented artist and gifted visionary when it comes to design, has been diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer.

For most of my life, Mom ran her own business creating works of art - from hand-painted furniture and decor to a successful apparel brand, she spent several years touring the country with her incredible handmade goods. Jill was once a stay-at-home mom to her only child, and remains a loving and supportive wife to her husband, Kurt. She is also beloved Grandma "Toot" to her 3 grandchildren, whom she has taken to the task of helping to care for in the past year as my job has required more hours.

Jill was recently and unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer, which has spread to her liver. The news came suddenly and has been a shock to our family.

For those who know her, it is no secret that Jill has a gift for making people feel comfortable, enthusiastic, and full of laughter with her radiating joy. She has always been the type of person that everyone gravitates toward - endlessly charming, the person who can turn strangers into friends in minutes. We have often joked about the various friends that Mom has brought home after a quick trip to the grocery store. To me, she is my best friend and the person who can put me at ease in an instant.

She has always shown up for her family, and now we are doing everything we can to show up for her.

The diagnosis has brought with it an overwhelming amount of medical appointments, scans, travel, and treatments. Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket costs are already piling up. This includes specialist fees, biopsies, medications, and the inevitable loss of income as we shift our household routines to help her with her care. This will include me stepping back from my job, which serves as a majority of our family's income and covers the payments for maintaining our farm.

We all live together- my parents, my husband, my children, and me. Our home is built on shared responsibilities and daily teamwork. This diagnosis changes all of that. We are doing our best to stay steady and positive for our kids while making sure my mom receives the care, comfort, and support she needs.
