Over the last month my cousin, Jill, went to the hospital several times with breathing problems and pain in her chest. Within the last few days we have learned that she is fighting 3 rare medical issues, and to have them all at once is extremely uncommon. She has pulmonary AVMs (arteriovenous malformations) and pulmonary hypertension from both blood clots and histoplasmosis. The surgery/treatment she is going to need is only done at a few hospitals in the country and is very invasive and extensive.
Jill has medical insurance, but has a high deductible and will have to pay for lodging and travel expenses for her surgery. Today, 6/7/19, she was able to come home while her and her team of doctors decide on which hospital will be best to treat her.
Please consider making a donation for Jill to help pay for medical costs and travel expenses for treatment. Now is the time for her friends and family to rally around her. Thank you so much for your help. I will update you all as soon as I find out what the next step is. Below is an update from Jill herself:
"Here is an update for everyone on what is exactly going on:
About a month ago I was diagnosed with pulmonary AVMs after doctors thinking I had pneumonia . When I went in to have that fixed, the doctors found that I had Pulmonary Hypertension. However last Thursday night, I felt a heaviness on my chest that wasn’t going away. So last Friday morning, I went to the ER and they determined I had a blood clot in my left lung. So I have been in the hospital since then on IV blood thinners and running tests.
After all my tests were run, the doctors have determined that I have the Pulmonary AVMs, pulmonary hypertension from blood clots called CTEPH, and pulmonary hypertension from histoplasmosis called fibrosising mediastinitis. All three of these issues are extremely rare and the treatment is extensive.
More than likely I will have to be either traveling to Pittsburgh or Cleveland for treatment because the doctors in Indiana do not have as much experience in these issues because they are so rare.
I am handling all of this the best I can and I have some moments where I fall apart but I am trying to be strong.
I want to thank everyone who has been there for me in the past month through everything. I have a long road ahead but I know I have the love and support of many.
I get to go home today!!?" ~ Jill
