Help Jill Blovits Stay Afloat During Her Fight for Health

Facing cancer, infection, and multiple surgeries—alone and unable to work.

On April 3, my sister, Jill Blovits suffered a sudden and serious injury. Initially believing she had broken her hip after a fall, doctors soon discovered a fractured femur. During emergency surgery to stabilize her leg with a rod, her medical team noticed a lesion in the bone and performed a biopsy.

It was later confirmed that the fracture was caused by cancer in her femur—likely the reason for the fall in the first place. Jill has since undergone a PET scan and is now anxiously awaiting results to determine whether the cancer has spread.

As if that weren’t enough, Jill recently learned that her surgical site is infected. She now faces two more surgeries, the first of which is scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, to clean out the infection and remove the hardware from her leg.

Since the initial fall:

• Jill has been non-weight bearing on the affected leg.

• While she can ambulate with an assistive device, she has tremendous difficulty managing doorways, thresholds, stairs, and entering or exiting vehicles.

• She is unable to work and has no income.

• She cannot drive and requires costly, specialized transportation, which is not covered by insurance.

As a single woman with no immediate family nearby, Jill is navigating this painful and uncertain journey largely on her own—and the financial, emotional, and physical burdens are overwhelming.

About Jill:

Jill has spent her life caring for and lifting up others. She majored in Spanish and has worked as a Spanish-English interpreter and an ESL teacher, helping many individuals feel seen, heard, and supported. Most recently, she’s been a beloved nanny, caring for children like they were her own.

Outside of work, Jill has a lifelong love of music and has played the flute since childhood. She’s also a passionate reader who finds comfort in books—something that has become especially important during this season of isolation and recovery.

Jill has poured so much of herself into others. Now she needs that care and compassion returned.
