Timor Leste has just suffered the saddest Easter Sunday. Heavy flooding has meant thousands displaced with the death toll still rising.
HIAM Health is a malnutrition and rehabilitation centre. They provide food for malnourished children and educate families on nutrition, hygiene and growing their own gardens for sustainable long-term health. They have been working tirelessly to help reduce the high rates of malnutrition particularly in children under five which is currently 57%.
The photos show the HIAM Health headquarters which was inundated by the floods with serious damage as a result. HIAM has lost their vehicles, generators, servers, white goods, essentially everything apart from the building. We will need to regain at least $150k worth of resources to rebuild and start helping the families that have lost everything.
More than ever HIAM health's services will be needed by Timorese people. The disaster will exacerbate the already dire situation, with lack of water, food and sanitation. But to make matters worse they were in a Covid-19 lockdown as they were on the brink of their first outbreak.
Please help us to rebuild and save lives.
To find out more about our much-needed programs go to the HIAM Health Website and HIAM Facebook Page .
Photos show what the centre currently looks like in comparison to what is was.

Video is taken by Rosaria the Director of HIAM Health walking through the centre for the first time after the floods.
