Hi my name is Jill.
I know there are so many people out there that need funding. But at this point I'm so overwhelmed with the bills and calls for payments.
On September 12, 2020, I went to the local ER in severe pain and they found a mass. I was transferred to to KU Med where they confirmed the mass was cancer both in my ovary and colon. I was scheduled for surgery that week but aspirated on the pre- colonoscopy treatment. and developed pneumonia so they could not perform the surgery at that time and I ended up in the hospital at that time for 2 weeks using up all of my vacation time and continuing to incur more medical expenses with all of the tests and medications.
I was released without having the necessary surgery which was finally done 10/19/20. I had to file for FMLA because my doctor said I wouldn't be able to go back to work for at least 90 days and of course my vacation time was 0 from the first 2 weeks I was in the hospital.
I work as a Property Manager and the properties I managed were sold during this time. I thought I was doing the right thing by being honest with the new owners about the cancer so they did not keep me on as the property manager I get it now that no one is going to hire someone with cancer because it's going to increase their insurance rates with the claims - and the company I worked for didn't have anywhere to place me so I became unemployed.
I did have insurance with my company until I was unemployed so I had to pay COBRA for 3 months at $500/month total $1500 Yes I did file for unemployment but if anyone is watching the news the Kansas Unemployment system is so defunct it's ridiculous!
Thankfully, I am now currently employed and will now be receiving insurance next month.
But the surgery did not get all of the cancer so I'm still getting treatments and Dr. visits that I will have 20% for.
