Help Jill and Steve get through the unthinkable

On this past Friday December 29th, Steve and Jill were visiting their Daughter Melissa and their granddaughters in Juneau, AK when Steve started feeling unwell, and they brought him to the hospital. Within hours he was Airlifted to Seattle, WA where the medical team discovered a cancerous tumor on Steve's brain the size of a mandarin orange. The tumor had grown in the language center of his brain so had been affecting his speech. The glioblastoma is aggressive and devastatingly terminal. The medical team is going to remove as much of the tumor as possible this Thursday, so that Steve can hopefully regain a better quality of life for the remainder of time he has left with his wonderful wife Jill, kids Matt and Melissa, and five grandkids Riley, Maddie, Emma, Gage and Kai.

Steve will need to remain in Seattle for recovery after his surgery for at least a month, and everything afterwards remains unknown thus far. They have already racked up medical, travel, and housing expenses as our family is trying to stay nearby to support them. Jill will need help with accommodations for the time that Steve is in Seattle recovering as well as travel and meal expenses, etc. There of course will be long term costs as well, once Jill and Steve get home.

Steve is the most wonderful person that anyone has ever met. He is the rock of our family. He has been there for us and for Melissa and the girls for every hard and wonderful thing that has happened in our lives. For Jill, he is her North Star and the best partner in life. They have always amazed me with their love, loyalty and patience as spouses, parents and grandparents. Steve is the best BP to his grandkids, he's the funnest, most patient person in the face of all of the adversity and challenges that our families have experienced over the years. We are thankful for all of the time we have had with Steve and hope that our time with him continues over the next few months.

Most of all Steve needs all of the prayers and positive energy and thoughts for him to come through this and enjoy the rest of his life with his family. He is scared as are all of us. All of the messages and phone calls that have been received have been appreciated.
