Update: Keith passed October 13, 2020 after being in Roswell Comprehensive Cancer Center for 30 days. He did come home for 7 days, but returned 9/14 for a Gamma Knife procedure for a lesion on his brain. He never got to go back to his family home after, as he developed oxygenation issues that ultimately led to his final journey to Heavenly Home.
This is not your typical Go Fund Me request. When asked if I wanted a GFM page set up, I said sure, why not?
Then I got to thinking about it, I thought wait a minute, not everyone can give. While we will surely be stressed and stretched to meet these recent financial hardships, there IS something everyone CAN do....PRAY!!!! Please extend all the good thoughts or whatever your spiritual vibe is.

Our story is:
October 2019, Keith, 58 years old was diagnosed with stage IIIC Lung Cancer, tumors in the lung and one lymph node in his chest. We had a plan for treatment and even went to Roswell for a 2nd opinion. That doctor agreed with the plan and said there was no reason he couldn't beat this!
After completing chemo and radiation in January, we thought we were heading down the homestretch with Immunotherapy. Shortly after starting, his Rochester based Oncologist indicated he was no longer a good candidate for Immunotherapy because of his existing RA(rheumatoid arthritis) status stopped treatment.
We went back to Roswell and were told he WAS a candidate. The doctor was very positive for successful treatment. He managed to get probably 12 treatments in. July 31st after a periodic CT scan, his doctor called right away to tell him the cancer had returned. A week later due to some pain in his back, he headed back to Roswell only to find out the cancer had metastasized to his spine and other areas.
The pain in his spine would be repaired with Radiation Ablation and Kyphoplasty on the 20th. He would also begin radiation to his spine in the near future.
Couple all the angst with Keith, with the fact that on August 19th, we got the phone call all parents dread. Our 17 year old daughter was in a very serious car accident and was being airlifted to Strong. While, by the Grace of God, Abby walked away from this horrible accident (the car was split in two) with minimal injuries, she spent several days in the PICU.
Keith's surgery the next day was successful. However, the pain did not go away. On 8/22, he went back to Roswell and has been there ever since. He can't sit, stand, or walk due to the pain. During this stay, no one has been able to visit due to the distance, work commitments, COVID, and taking care of Abby.
At present, the doctors have discovered he has an additional tumor pressing against 2 ruptured discs causing the pain. As of August 25th, we have found out he has a spot on his brain.
Keith is the breadwinner for our family and he also carries the health insurance. He is no longer able to work and is being taken out on disability which will drastically reduce our income, In addition, if we have to switch insurance mid year, we start all over again trying to meet a new deductible on a new plan. we already have outstanding debt for the chemo/radiation done in 2019, early 2020, even after our health care plan paid.
Again, we ask for prayers. Pray for healing for Keith and Abby and strength for our family to get through this storm. As a good friend shared with me "God promises to make something good out of the storms that bring devastation to your life" Rom 8:28
This fundraiser was organized by family friend, Janelle Cooper in Wolcott NY. The Nelson family lives in North Rose.
All monies raised will be spent towards the medical bills that remain open after co-pays.
