In the early morning hours on Sunday, March 30th, there was a house fire on Church Street near downtown Cincinnati. Jianna Hopkins-Israel, her husband Lemuel Israel, and their five children aged 6 to 14 were completely displaced. We are lucky and thankful that everyone made it out of the house with minor injuries, but the only possessions they managed to save were the clothes on their backs and no shoes on their feet. The kids and adults were treated at Children's and UC Hospital and are on the path to recovery. The news has stated the fire caused over $150,000 in damages, not including all the personal property lost inside.
If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting Jianna, you know that she will go out of her way to help others in need. She has active roles in the Lower Price Hill community and local school that her children attend, she's a Housing Equity Strategist with Built For Zero, a national outreach branch within Community Solutions, dedicated to solving homelessness. She also assists locally at Strategies to End Homelessness, a non-profit organization committed to improving the homeless response systems in the Greater Cincinnati area. She has spent a lot of time helping others and providing resources to those in need. Now, it's our turn to help her and her family.
