Hi, my name is Amy and I'm a friend of Jihyun Kim. While walking through a crosswalk Ji was struck by a large truck and admitted to John Muir Trauma Center with very serious injuries. She was discharged after 6 days but bedridden until January. Ji will need months of rehabilitation and therapy to be able to return to work again. Her hands are her livelihood so the road ahead will be challenging.

For those of you who don't know, Ji is a makeup artist, hairstylist, and wardrobe stylist. As a freelance artist/independent contractor there is no "safety net" for people like her.

Because the driver who hit Ji was underinsured and unemployed, Ji is responsible for $30-40k of her hospital bills. October was her last paycheck and she is not eligible for disability because she is self-employed. She hasn't received any financial aid to date. Her current hospital bills exceed 200k.

Donations would help cover multiple ER visits, MRI/CT/X-ray imaging, EMDR therapy, ongoing out-of-pocket outpatient visits, and months of owed rent.

I am asking for help for her until she can get back on her feet again. For those of you that know Ji, she has always been there for many people when they have struggled financially. I hope we can be there for her in the same way. Thank you so much for your donation and your compassion.
