Help Me Finish My Graduate Acting Degree at CalArts

Hi! My name is Jha'Neal Blue. I'm an actor, writer, and multimedia artist currently pursuing my MFA in Acting at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). This has been a dream years in the making, and I've poured everything —my talents, time, and resources — into making it to California to further my education and career.

Before relocating from the East Coast, I worked tirelessly, utilizing every skill I had —film-making, teaching, and performing — to secure enough funds to get here. But now that I'm in LA and fully immersed in the demands of grad school, it's been challenging to recover financially from that leap. That's where I could use your help.

The funds raised here will go toward rent, housing essentials, bills, school supplies, and other necessary living expenses that make it possible for me to stay focused on my education and artistry.

To support myself, I've been auditioning non-stop and saying "yes" to every opportunity that comes my way. Right now, I'm performing in a Hollywood Fringe Festival show that runs through June 26 (if you're in or near LA, I'd love for you to see it!). On June 19, I'll also be performing in a one-night-only showing of a new play called 900 Days.

In addition to performing, I've been applying to teaching artist positions and working to build relationships with arts organizations here in LA. However, most of my professional network is still based back East, so I'm still working to plant new roots out here.

I'm committed to making the most of my time in graduate school, not only to grow as an artist but to continue inspiring and uplifting others through my work. If you're able to contribute, any amount helps. And if you can't give right now, sharing this with your community would mean the world.
