Hi there, my name is Jack and this is Jewel.
Jewel is a beautiful little Blue Healer that has had a problem from birth that effects her ability to walk, eat, drink and go to the toilet. I have tried everything I can to get some answers on what her condition might be so I can help her to have a good quality of life and the diagnosis has been narrowed down to having a problem with her Cerebella (the back part of the brain that controls movement). I have had more trips to the vet than I can remember for tests, check ups and emergency visits for her seizures.
She is the sweetest little girl and I want nothing more than for her to have a normal life, currently she spends 90% of her life laying on her side in her bed and the other 10% she is a very wobbly walker. I also need to assist her with eating, drinking and going to the toilet as she cannot stand to do it herself. As well as not being able to stand up, she often has seizures which can last hours and she lays there in a paralysed like state.
The next and most likely final step in getting some answers for Jewel is to have a MRI a spinal fluid tap done which are both very costly procedures, I have been given an estimate of $6000 by the Small Animal Specialist Hospital in Sydney. This is why I need your help. Lockdowns in Sydney (the closest city that has MRI facilities for pets) are lifting towards the end of October and I am hoping to get these scans and spinal tap done as soon as possible to hopefully stop her condition from declining.
Since the very beginning, Jewel has been with me almost 24/7 as she requires constant care and I would love for her to have a bit of independence in her life.
Your help is greatly appreciated and I am hoping we can help Jewel together.
Thank you!
