Help Jewel Get Mammary Tumor Surgery

This is Jewel. She has been in my life for 10 years (since I was 12 years old), and she has been my emotional support dog for almost 4. Her and I have made it through everything together. I’ve fought my hardest for her, through her pyometra, hematoma, and her first mammary tumor removal, and I won’t give up now. When my family home went into foreclosure I dropped out of college to afford an apartment to take her with me so that she wouldn’t be rehomed. It has been a very tough journey, but I would find myself living in my car or on the streets for her if it came to it. She’s an amazing dog; she listens well, gets along with all my small animals, she turns heads and gets a lot of pets when we go to the park or hiking. I take her everywhere with me, including outside at restaurants, the beach,

and hotels. I swear there is something about this dog that is so human. She can feel people’s emotions and paws at them to cheer them up. I’m writing from my heart here, because this surgery seems to be Jewel’s last chance at life with me. I was able to do the surgery back in March, between over $800 out of pocket and maxed out care credit of over $1400. When biopsied the tumor was stage 3 but no metastasis. Unfortunately, her other mammary gland has developed a rapidly growing tumor that has the sure signs of cancer. She is doing great right now and in pristine health, but one of the vets estimated a life expectancy of a few months to twenty months max because without the surgery there is a good chance the cancer will spread to her lungs or bones. She can’t take prednisone because it elevates her liver enzymes, so this surgery is her only shot if we act fast. I’m attaching the estimate below from Grand Island vet which was cheaper when compared to Eden Vet, but not by much. If I can’t raise enough money it will all be refunded and I’ll give her a great life while I can. She has seen me through so much and I’m just not ready to let her go yet.
