Hello. My name is Alicia. I am here to ask for help for our dog, Jethro. Jethro is a three-year-old German Shepherd/Husky mix. He has so much spunk and energy left in him. The reason we are asking for your help today is that Jethro needs to have a TPLO surgery (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy). He has a torn cranial cruciate ligament, which is the equivalent of a torn ACL in humans. At the present time, he receives two doses of Carprofen, twice a day, every twelve hours. He is young, so he does try to run and play. He ends up paying for it afterward. He can be seen limping and ends up crabby due to the pain.
As many people close to us know, 2025 has not been kind to our family. In the beginning of September, we lost our old girl; she was 13. Our washing machine broke down. We have been dealing with my own medical issues. On March 15th of this year, I suffered an injury to my knee that left me in a non-weight-bearing state, unable to work for six months. I ended up needing two separate surgeries, the first on April 24th of this year. Due to a fall, I reinjured the same knee, causing the failure of that surgery. I ended up needing the second surgery, which was on June 12th of this year. Almost immediately after that surgery, I felt something was not right in my knee. I told my orthopedic doctor, his PA, and my physical therapist something was not right, but everyone had different reasons to not look into my claims. Seven weeks after the second surgery, during a strenuous and painful physical therapy appointment, my knee was screaming at me. Within 24 hours, my meniscus tore again. I am now scheduled for a third corrective surgery in December. It was one week prior to my second surgery that Jethro injured his knee. It pains me to say, due to our financial situation, we've had to watch him struggle with this pain every day.
We are asking for help to cover his veterinary expenses so he can finally get the care he needs and deserves. I've included a photo of the estimated cost of surgery. This estimate does not include any aftercare costs or other unforeseen occurrences along the way. Any amount, big or small, will go directly to Jethro's medical care. Generally, I am not one to ask for help. Today I am. It's not for me; it's for Jethro. Jethro has brought so much life, joy, and happiness to our family. He still has so much more left to give. Please help us get him back to where he deserves to be.
