At just 8 years old, Jesus I. Salas faced something most adults pray they never have to — cancer. And he fought. Hard. He beat it once. Years later, it came back stronger and he underwent a transplant then around age 13 endured the painful battle of rejection. Somehow, through unimaginable pain, hospital stays, and setbacks, he stabilized. He chose to live. He chose hope. He chose strength.
Now at 19 years old, Jesus is facing rejection again. But this time, he’s not just fighting for himself. He’s fighting to come home to his 3-month-old son. Despite living with pain for most of his life, Jesus has always been the bubbly, sweet soul of our family. Anyone who knows him will tell you — his smile lights up a room. His heart is pure. He carries strength quietly, without complaint. Even when his body is tired, his spirit refuses to quit.
Right now, while he focuses on treatment and healing, real life continues. Bills don’t pause for illness. Responsibilities don’t wait. As a young father, he wants nothing more than to be present for his son — to hold him, raise him, and build a future with him. This fundraiser is to help ease the financial burden of living expenses while Jesus fights through this battle once again. We want him to focus on healing, on getting stronger, and on coming home — not on falling behind or worrying about how his son will be cared for.
We also hope his story raises awareness. Illness does not discriminate by age. Strength comes in many forms — and sometimes it looks like a 19-year-old young man refusing to give up, again and again. If you feel it in your heart to help, any donation — no matter the amount — will make a difference. If you’re unable to give, please share his story. Every prayer, every message, every act of kindness means more than words can express. Thank you for standing with Jesus. Thank you for helping him fight his way back home. With gratitude, the Salas family.
