Help Jesús Heal: A Beloved Organizer’s Recovery Journey
Donation protected
I first met Jesús while working at the Texas Legislature as a Director of Communications. I was looking for a remote legislative intern to join my team, and Jesús was one of several applicants. He immediately stood out—not just for his qualifications, but for his heart, passion, and dedication to the community. I chose him to intern alongside others, and it quickly became clear that he had something special.
At the same time, Jesús was serving as Vice President of the Houston Stonewall Young Democrats while I was President. Our paths kept crossing, and over time, I had the chance to guide and advise him on different projects and situations. We built a strong bond rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and a deep love for the communities we serve. Eventually, that working relationship turned into a real friendship—one I truly value.
Since then, I’ve watched Jesús grow into a fierce, compassionate leader. As a Field Director with an organization, he’s become a powerful advocate for civic engagement and social justice, especially in the Latino community. Jesús has always been the type to pour everything he has into uplifting others—showing up when it matters most, giving without hesitation, and bringing people together with authenticity and heart.
Recently, he was rushed to the hospital due to severe abdominal pain. Doctors had to perform an emergency surgery that very night—explaining afterward that if he had waited even a little longer, his intestines could have perforated due to scar tissue from a major surgery he had years ago.
This all happened so quickly—and while Jesús is recovering, the financial burden of surgery, time off work, and medical expenses has added another layer of stress to an already difficult time.
Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
We’re raising funds to help Jesús cover his medical bills, recovery time, and essentials as he heals. If you know Jesús, you know he’s always been there for others. Let’s be there for him now—with our donations, our shares, and our words of support.
Thank you for standing with Jesús.
