Hi, I need your help! Two weeks ago, my best friend, and boyfriend, Jesùs, was hit by a large construction delivery truck while on his motorcycle by his work in Costa Rica. This has been completely devastating for his family and me.
He sustained critical injuries, and although he's currently in a stable condition, he has incurred numerous severe fractures and breaks. The humorous bone in his upper left arm/shoulder completely snapped in half and broke through his arm, he has two fractured bones in his wrist, along with multiple breaks in his left leg. All the bones on the left side of his body were either completely snapped in half or crushed. We also discovered an approximately 6-inch segment of bone in his leg is absent, presumably shattered during the accident.
Unfortunately, the public healthcare system in the part of Costa Rica where he lives was unable to provide the care he desperately needed. He had been at the public hospital for over a week, and his broken bones hadn’t even been set. He was still potentially 4-6 weeks away from any surgeries or effective treatments and was suffering unimaginable pain while awaiting surgery.
Thanks to the generous support from both public and private donations, we managed to transfer him to a private hospital in San Jose, where he received the necessary care and surgeries he needed. However, there are ongoing challenges and financial responsibilities tied to his recovery and the medical attention he has received. The surgeries he underwent incurred substantial costs, and we’ve encountered numerous complications over the last couple of weeks. One of these challenges was an infection that went unnoticed during his time at the previous hospital. By the time it was discovered and addressed, it had developed significantly. The infection posed a grave risk to his life and could have either been fatal or resulted in the loss of his arm and leg. This has led to a substantial increase in his medical expenses beyond our initial estimates. With the need for additional surgeries, an extended hospital stay, various diagnostic procedures, laboratory tests, medications, and continuous therapies, the total expenses have accumulated to an overwhelming amount. Both his family and I are unable to meet the financial demands of these costs.
Jesùs cares deeply for others and works so hard to support his entire family. At this moment, he is in greater need of our support than ever before. Despite the challenges and hardships he’s encountered in recent weeks, he has maintained his compassion and optimism. Your contribution will assist in covering the medical bills he has accumulated so far, along with further medical care he will require in the upcoming months.
