On Sunday, June 23rd, Jesus, Claudia, and their unborn son were headed to Austin to celebrate their “baby-moon”. On the way there, they were involved in an accident with an oil tanker that led to an explosion. They were life flighted to Austin where they both were immediately sent in for surgery and Claudia underwent an emergency cesarean. At this time all three are stable, mom and dad are both in SICU being treated for burns and injuries - and baby boy is in NICU, but doing great and expected to be released to family in the coming days. However, Jesus and Claudia have a long road to recovery.
We are anticipating 2-3 months in the hospital with anywhere from 10-20 surgeries. We are trying to raise enough money to rent place in Austin for their parents to stay with Jesus and Claudia’s baby boy, as well as helping to cover some of the immediate expenses associated with taking care of him, and them being in a hospital so far from home.
Claudia and Jesus are two of the best friends, family members, and just genuinely great people. They have always been there for us when we’ve needed them, so I would like to do anything I can to help make what they are going through a little less difficult. Please help in any way you feel called to - anything and everything is appreciated. Please keep them, their son, and their families in your prayers while they navigate through the next few months and years.
