Help Jessie Swanger recover from a house fire

On Saturday, July 23rd, our sister, Jessie and her 12 year old son, Jayden, lost their home in a fire caused by a lightning strike. They were not home, but their dog, Cooper, and 2 cats, Kitty and Peanut passed away.

There is extensive smoke and fire damage throughout the home, especially where Jayden's room was located, so all of his belongings were lost or will need professional restoration if they can be recovered. Nearly all of Jessie's belongings, as well as all of their furniture were lost as well. They will be able to save some important items, but restoreation of most of their belongings would cost more than replacing them.

Our main concern for Jessie and Jayden is that they are able to find a place to stay for the time being and that they have furniture, bedding, clothing, and other necessities. We also want to make sure that Jayden has everything he needs to start 7th grade in less than a month.

The cost of renting another place, at current rates, is going to be beyond Jessie's means.

Thankfully, Jessie is a master at thrifting and diy, so we're confident that she can replace the furniture and a lot of their clothes for a reasonable amount of money.

We are hoping to fundraise enough to cover the difference in price for 12 months rent between what she was paying and what she will have to pay in the current market. In addition, we are hoping to be able to provide Jessie and Jayden with the means to replace the furniture, electronics, and clothing that they lost, as well as the basic necessities like linens, toiletries, and other needs. Lastly, we are hoping to be able to get as much of their irreplaceable belongings restored as possible. Photos, keepsakes, and other important items. Anything that we can salvage will need professional restoration.

Jessie is a single mom who has lived in this home for 15 years and this is the only home Jayden has ever known. This was, and remains, a devastating trauma for both of them. Jessie has always been strong and fiercely independent, the one who has never let life get her down, but she agrees that she needs help to get through this.

We want to do anything we can to help ease their burden and to help them move forward. Any help will be a blessing for them during the most difficult time in either of their lives.
