On May 9th, Debra Chase, 70, passed away in New Port Richey, FL. Unfortunately, her relationship with her family was tumultuous and often strained, which meant that the news of her passing came as a surprise to her daughter, Jessie Thomas. Along with this painful news, information about the state of her home and the funds needed to safely clean up the space also came as a surprise. Jessie's options are now to hire a disaster clean-up service (estimated to cost about $13,000) or fly to Florida, acquire personal protective equipment, and figure out a way to safely clean the home and yard herself. She also needs to hire an attorney to help her work through the estate, as unfortunately her mother did not leave a will. These decisions put serious financial strain on Jessie, on top of all of the emotions she is experiencing at the loss of her mother. Jessie is a strong, self-sufficient, exceptional person, and asking for help is the last thing she wants to do, so as her friends, we are writing this on her behalf.
