My name is Jessie Miller. I grew up in Buffalo, NY and moved to Altadena, CA in 2021 to attend graduate school at the California Institute of Technology where I am pursuing a PhD in Astrophysics. On January 8, 2025 - just 4 days after my 26th birthday - my home burnt down in the Eaton Fire. Myself, my cat Crouton, and my roommates all made it out safely, but I’ve lost everything and my renters insurance doesn’t cover damage from firestorms. I only have a single suitcase of clothes, one pair of shoes, my important documents, and a few cat toys. We are lucky to be safe, but I need help getting back on my feet. Please help me begin to rebuild my life and find new housing as I work through this tragedy. Anything helps, and I cannot express how grateful I am for your help!
