Hi All,
I’m reaching out to you because my family and I have been grappling with multiple hardships, and now, things have hit critical mass. In late September, we suffered a loss in our household and, alongside grief came absolute chaos. Our family has been struggling to keep things going ever since, but we’ve been working together over the last few months to maintain some semblance of stability. Right now, though, our literal and figurative roof is caving in.
The frequent rains over the last few months have taken a toll on the structure of our building, and severe roof damage and yellow mold have rendered our unit uninhabitable. Normal food preparations are no longer safe. I am visually impaired and risk serious injury when navigating the apartment because I am unable to avoid puddles or easily maneuver around furniture that must be moved regularly in order to avoid water damage. We are caring for an elderly and immunocompromised relative and must relocate immediately in order to protect her from any potential health complications she might suffer.
We have a deadline of February 21 to come up with the costs associated with relocation, furniture replacement/ repair, and uncontaminated food.
I am unable to be of much physical help to my family at this time because the muscles and ligaments of my neck are destabilized due to chronic dyskinesia.
My family and I are overwhelmed, so I am turning to my community in hopes that you can assist us during this difficult time.
Here is Where Your Help Will Go:
1. A reputable moving company that can help us relocate right away.
2. Costs to repair or replace water damaged furniture.
3. Costs associated with cleaning.
4. Costs of replacing food that may have been contaminated by mold spores that may have spread.
5. Costs of a sighted assistant that can work with me during the visual elements of relocation.
6. Costs of a hotel stay while moving takes place.
Please understand that I do not do this lightly. I work very hard to take care of myself and my family and would not ask for this kind of help unless things were critical. Whatever help you can offer is very much appreciated, even if it is only sharing the campaign with others.
Warmly,
Jessica and Family
