Hi, my name is Jessica, and I am setting out on a pilgrimage—walking 500 miles from Asheville, NC to the US Capitol with the Great Mother March--from March 22nd (Spring Equinox) to April 22th (Earth Day). I am walking out of my deep desire to bring more love and compassion to our country and our world. For part of the journey, my twelve year old daughter will be walking with me, and there are over a hundred other people walking as well. We are walking for a world in balance, where all beings are valued and the currency is love. We are walking, not as a protest, but as a living prayer for healing our planet and our democracy.
Taking a month off work to walk this distance is both a privilege and a challenge. The funds I raise will help cover my food and camping fees along the way, and will also help me pay my bills while I dedicate myself fully to this journey. If I am fortunate enough to raise more than I need, I will donate the remainder to the Great Mother March to help cover their expenses, from porta potties to permits, so that others can walk as well. Every dollar will help me take another step toward our shared vision of a more compassionate world.
My mom used to sing, 'Step by step, the longest march can be won. Many stones to form an arch, singly none.' This march is only possible because of the many people supporting it in different ways—those making art hearts to pass out in the towns we visit, those helping at home so their loved ones can walk, and those donating money and supplies for the journey. If you feel moved by what we're doing, please support the march with your donation, or by helping out in another way. Maybe you'll even walk with us! The Great Mother March is open to everyone, and there are no fees to join. We are walking to create a world in balance, where love is the bottom line. Step by step.
Thank you for considering helping with the march! For more information about the walk, go to www.greatmothermarch.com
