Help Single Mom Jessica Save Her Leg & Home After Crash

Help Jessica Save Her Leg, Her Home, and Her Hope.

My name is Christina Zausch, and I’m raising funds for my sister, Jessica Southwood. She’s a single mom, a community leader, and the kind of person who always puts others before herself. Now, after a devastating motorcycle accident, she’s the one who desperately needs help.

Earlier this year, Jessica set out for a simple Sunday ride through the country, helmet on and every rule of the road followed. She wasn’t seeking thrills, just a little peace. In a split second, a driver made an illegal turn and hit her head-on. Jessica did everything right, yet she became the innocent victim of a devastating crash.

The impact left Jessica with catastrophic injuries: a compound fracture in her lower leg, eight broken ribs, and a broken arm. These injuries have already required six major surgeries, with more likely ahead as doctors fight to save her leg.

The pain has been unbearable, and the emotional weight of it all has left her questioning whether she even has the strength to keep going.

Jessica isn’t just a survivor of this crash, she’s also a mother, daughter, coworker, and friend who has poured herself into helping others. She manages our local Goodwill here in Pocatello, Idaho, where she’s loved and respected. She leads community “free item” groups on Facebook, making sure struggling families get the essentials they need. She’s lived her entire life here, graduated from Highland High School, and has always believed in lifting others up.

Now she’s the one who needs us.

Jessica’s 16-year-old daughter, Kaylee, just got her driver’s license and her first job. She’s trying her best to help, but no teenager can shoulder this kind of burden alone. Jessica’s coworkers already donated all their PTO, but now there’s no paycheck coming in. She just received another $14,000 hospital bill…on top of everything else. Without immediate help, she’s at risk of losing her job, her home, and her chance at recovery.

How your donations will help:
• Mortgage & utilities – so Jessica and Kaylee can stay in their home
• Groceries & household essentials – so they don’t have to choose between food and bills
• Medical costs – including physical therapy, rehab, and equipment (wheelchair, brace, walker)
• Transportation – to get Jessica to and from surgeries and appointments
• Crisis support – so Kaylee can stay focused on school and not feel like she’s losing everything

Every dollar goes directly to Jessica. She’s set up as the beneficiary, so funds will be transferred straight to her account. I’ll be posting weekly updates so you can follow her journey and see the impact of your generosity.

How you can help today:
1. Donate any amount. Truly, even $5 makes a difference.
2. Share this fundraiser with your friends, coworkers, church groups, and local community. The more people who see Jessica’s story, the better.
3. Leave a comment of encouragement. Jessica and Kaylee read every word, and it gives them strength to keep fighting.

Jessica has spent her life helping others in Pocatello. Now she’s facing the fight of her life. With your help, we can make sure she keeps her leg, her home, and most importantly…her hope.

From the bottom of our hearts: thank you for standing with Jessica and Kaylee in this desperate moment.
