My name is Jessica Johnson. I'm 42 years old, a wife, a mom to two amazing daughters, and a bonus mom to two more since marrying my husband in 2016. I’ve worked at Duncan Aviation in Lincoln, Nebraska, for 20 years and currently serve as a Database Management Supervisor.
Since 2018, I’ve been dealing with unexplained medical issues that led to multiple surgeries, including a hip replacement. Even after the replacement, the pain never stopped. I've done everything I can to keep working from home and supporting my family despite it all.
Last week, I was diagnosed with a chronic periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) in my artificial hip. It’s a serious, deep infection that will require multiple surgeries, a lengthy hospital stay, and months of recovery with long-term antibiotic treatment. The next step is likely a two-stage surgery to remove the infected implant and, hopefully, replace it once the infection is under control. In some cases, the joint can’t be replaced at all.
I’ve always tried to handle everything quietly and independently. Asking for help like this is not something I ever thought I would do, but the reality is we can’t get through this alone. The upcoming medical costs, time off work, and travel for care are more than we can manage without support.
If you’re able to give anything at all, it will help ease the burden and allow me to focus on healing and being there for my family. Thank you so much for reading my story and for any help you can give. It truly means more than words can say.
