My name is Jessica Williams. Myself and Nichole Jones are writing on behalf of our beautiful best friend, Jessica Lockee. In early April Jessica was given the awful and unimaginable diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. From the beginning Jessica has faced her diagnosis head on, with bravery and grace. While undergoing chemotherapy sessions and separate trips to Philadelphia for hydration, she has continued to work and take care of her family. She has been able to push through and miss only minimal amounts of work thus far. Jessica is fast approaching the next phase of her treatment, major abdominal surgery. The recovery will be long, and although she is strong this will not be something she can force herself to work through. She most likely will have another round of chemo treatments after. While she is covered now by FMLA, this is unlikely to carry her through this entire process. She also anticipates the need to pay out of pocket for COBRA health insurance coverage. As you can imagine this is a stressful and frightening time for Jessica. No one should have to fight this fight while also worrying about how they are going to keep up financially.

Jessica is the type of person, friend, mother and partner that you can count on no matter what. She is always the first to show up, and the last to leave. Always willing to lend a helping hand in times of need, never shows up empty handed and is always prepared (even when we’re not). Jessica will do anything for the people that she loves. She is the epitome of selflessness, bravery, strength and grace and she rarely asks for anything in return. Nichole and I (with Jessica’s permission) would like to help take some of the burden off of our friend and we’re asking for you to join us. Help us help her so she can focus on more important things, like recovery and quality time with her family. Her fiancé Shelton, son Tristan and daughter Amira, are her whole world. Despite feeling sick, tired and scared, Jessica has faced her diagnosis with her head high and a smile on her face. We hope to help keep that smile going, easing the stress a bit.
