Help Jessica Kinney Afford Life-Saving Treatment

Hi, this is Jessica Kinney.

After being diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, she discovered the real battle that it is. A battle to fight cancer as well as a battle to fight the system. Jessica has been a dedicated nurse for over a decade and upon diagnosis, hoped to be able to get treatment started relatively quickly. Many people involved in healthcare are aware that the medical field does not often provide good benefits. Being diagnosed the same month she turned 35, qualifying for many treatment programs or grants became futile. One might think that there are treatment plans available somewhere, but after exhaustive searches and phone calls over a 3-month period, she needed to just jump in and hope for the best. Chemotherapy alone involves 3 drugs that range from $10,000 - $15,000 each, plus 6+ other meds that go with it. We now see why there are horror stories of the struggles of people with cancer and how they sell their homes and lose so much. They also feel like a burden to others who care for them. When they are so sick, they cannot give anything back to their caregivers, and that takes its toll mentally as well. In healthcare, we refer to it as “the donut hole”, the people that fall into categories that don’t qualify for assistance. She worked up to the very last day the hospital told her she no longer could.

We are asking for donations and will be holding a raffle to help raise funds to assist with the extreme costs of chemotherapy and the double mastectomy.
