My youngest sister Jessica’s life changed forever when she was just 19 years old. She was involved in a tragic car accident that left her with a traumatic brain injury and permanent disabilities — including loss of smell, taste, peripheral vision, and chronic head pain.
Jessica is now 37 and a devoted single mother to two wonderful children. Despite her daily struggles, she has worked tirelessly to provide for them on her own.
Earlier this year, Jessica and the kids came to stay with me in Kauai for what was supposed to be a short visit. During that time, I saw firsthand the tremendous challenges she faces every day. Her chronic head pain often leaves her bedridden for hours, all while trying to care for her children.
In the summer, Jessica went to a follow-up neurology appointment that resulted in emergency brain surgery and the placement of a shunt. While the surgery was necessary, the recovery has been difficult and uncertain. She is now experiencing new symptoms — severe temperature fluctuations, dizziness, nausea, and changes in vision and hearing — all while trying to heal and be there for her kids.
Because of her recovery, Jessica is restricted in her ability to work, and the medical bills continue to add up. To help her during this time, I’ve supported her relocation so she and the kids can be nearby while she heals.
Now, I’m reaching out to ask for your help.
Your donation will go directly toward:
Covering ongoing medical expenses
Supporting her children during her recovery
Providing stability as she adjusts to life after surgery
Jessica has always been strong and resilient, but right now she needs our community’s support more than ever. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in her and her children’s lives.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with Jessica during this incredibly difficult time.
Please donate if you’re able, and share this campaign to spread the word.
