Help Jessica Access Urgent Neurosurgical Care
Hi everyone,
We want to share an important update and provide clearer context around why we are asking for help at the moment.
Jessica has been diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumor in July 2025 that is now causing progressive neurological symptoms, including limb weakness, headaches, decreased vision, increased cranial pressure, emotional and cognitive decline and seizures.
Her ability to care for herself and her family has completely diminished.
Recent imaging has shown measurable growth and mass effect over a short period of time, and over the past several days she required emergency care due to seizure activity.
While surgery was initially discussed as something that could be planned over time, her condition has changed.
Based on the progression of symptoms and recent findings of growth, we are now moving forward with surgical care as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, here in Canada her results, symptoms and concerns are not taken seriously or looked at in a timely manner. She has been advised by multiple international neurosurgeons that surgery is the best possible option.
In Canada we are still advised to “watch and wait”
Waiting only increases risk of developing more debilitating symptoms, permanent neurological deficits, potential malignancy, and surgical complications.
After consulting with international specialists, Jessica is traveling to Istanbul to receive care at a specialized neurosurgical center with significant experience in cases like hers. This option allows access to advanced imaging, coordinated testing, and timely surgery without prolonged delays. The same level of care elsewhere would involve much longer wait times and significantly higher costs.
As plans have shifted toward urgent international surgery, the financial burden has increased substantially. International travel, expedited testing, surgical care, hospital stay, and recovery-related expenses add up quickly. We are being careful and intentional with every decision, but the reality is that these costs are significant.
Funds raised through this GoFundMe are being used directly for essential medical care, travel, and recovery needs so that decisions can be made based on medical necessity, not financial limitation.
We are deeply grateful for the support, donations, prayers, and messages of encouragement we’ve received. Every contribution and every share has helped us move forward at a time when speed truly matters.
Thank you for standing with Jessica and our family.
With gratitude,
Ann
