My name is Jessica. I'm a 31-year-old filmmaker and martial artist, and I'm a trans woman.

 

I started transitioning more than 2 years ago in February 2021 and my life has become infinitely better because of it. I've gained the confidence to take new chances in my career, stopped holding back my truest feelings, and got engaged to the love of my life. The highs have been extreme but the lows of dysphoria are still present and crippling at times.

I want a body that feels like mine. I want to look in the mirror and see the woman I've always been reflected back at me. I want to be able to look at my wedding photos and see my true self holding my wife's hand. I'm doing all I can to find other ways to afford the medical care that I need but transitioning is very expensive, and I’m at a place in my life where I don’t have the financial means to afford these surgeries on my own.

 

Thankfully, my insurance will cover some of the costs for these procedures but the out-of-pocket expenses are still proving to be significant before even considering travel expenses for myself, my post-surgical caretakers, and the time we will need to take off from work.

 

Estimated costs for obtaining surgeries include:

• Pre-surgery hair removal - (~$10,000)

• Facial Feminization Surgery - (~$7,000-$10,000)

• Breast Augmentation - (~$8,000-$10,000)

• Aftercare and potential miscellaneous medical expenses - (~$6,000)

 

Any potential leftover funds will be donated to other trans GoFundMe pages.
