On Wednesday July 13, 2022, my sister Jessica was attending a teacher's conference in Sacramento which is about a 6 hour drive from her home in Oxnard, CA. At 27 weeks pregnant she went into preterm labor. Early on Thursday July 14, 2022, baby Juliana was born, weighing 2 lbs 12oz.

Baby Juliana arrived 13 weeks early, so she will have to stay in the NICU in Sacramento for about 3 months. My sister Jessica and husband Savier will need a lot of support during this time as their baby receives the critical care she needs so far from home. They will need to do a lot of traveling back and forth from Oxnard to Sacramento and deal with housing in Sacramento, flights, medical costs, food, gas, transportation, etc. My brother-in-law will not be able to work at this time and Jessica will not be able to return to her teaching job for quite awhile as she will need to be with her daughter as often as possible.

All funds raised will go to helping my sister and brother-in-law stay and visit their baby in Sacramento as often as possible. It's heartbreaking to have my sister's 1st baby in NICU and not be able to hold her but also very hard on her, her husband and the family to be far away from home and from their support system.
