My name is Ren (Jessica is my deadname) and I am a transman reaching out during a time of big change and uncertainty for myself and my beloved animals. As a transman living in a red state without much support, I’ve been doing my best to keep things together. Recently, my mother, who I live with, told me she’s moving to a different county and I can’t go with her. This news has left me scrambling to find a safe path forward for myself, my service dog, my emotional support animal, and my pet cat.

Thankfully, I’m working with Werq Together to relocate across the country, and they’ve been incredibly helpful in securing housing for me. However, there are still important costs I need to cover on my own. My animals need their vaccinations updated, and I want to make sure my cats have sturdy travel carriers for the journey. I’m looking into low-cost programs, but the expenses add up quickly, especially with airline pet fees and my regular bills, which I’m now handling alone. In the future, I’ll also need to help my partner relocate and bring his belongings. Right now, my focus is on making sure my animals and I can make this move safely.
