Help Jessica and Paul rebuild after house fire

Hello,

My name is Jessica. It is with an extremely heavy heart that I write this ask for help on behalf of myself and my husband.

On the night of Thanksgiving, I was fortunate to escape my house from a fire that started while I was asleep. We still have no word on how the fire broke out. Thankfully, my husband was not in our home at the time and is safe. At the time, I didn’t understand the extent of the fire. I tried to re-enter the home for our animals after throwing myself out of my back window. I mention this so you could understand the amount of love I have for my babies. We lost our fur babies Ella, Dazie, Choji, and Mochi to the smoke that ultimately took them from us. This was our greatest loss that day.

Along with our babies, we lost everything we own, every single memory we had in that house. All those irreplaceable items and memories. As trivial as it sounds, my heart is broken that we lost all the Christmas gifts we bought for our families. It has always been important for myself and my husband to make Christmas special for all of our loved ones.

Thanks to the firefighters for putting the fire out as quickly as they could and making sure I was safe. Through all of their hard work, the fire did not spread to anyone else’s home. Our home, though, was destroyed. We’ve been told we will not be able to live in our home for at least 14 months.

I’m not sure why we are being faced with this challenge in life, but I know we will get through this. We have to. We are so blessed to have our lives and all of the love we are surrounded with.

My heart goes out to everyone who has gone through this kind of hardship. Our whole life feels like it’s been turned upside down. I’m having a hard time thinking or even typing this right now. I never imagined we would ever be in this situation. Every day, I’m trying to find and keep the strength to remain positive.

Right now, we’re working on finding somewhere to live while we sort out repairs. I’ve been asked by family what we need. The answer right now is I don’t know. I’m just thankful to be alive and free from any major injuries.

As we rebuild our life, I am faced with the fact that we will need things. If you can help in any way, we would be grateful.
