Help Jessica and Her Family During Michael's Recovery

On July 18, 2024, Michael Williams of Baton Rouge, Louisiana suffered a major heart attack while traveling in Wisconsin. He suffered from three completely blocked arteries, which caused significant damage to the left side of his heart. He has been in ICU in Wisconsin since the emergency.

His daughter, Jessica Williams, has had to fly herself and her mother to Wisconsin to support his care. While insurance has covered Michael's medical bills to date, Jessica has incurred significant incidental expenses including flights, an ongoing hotel bill, and a rental car (exacerbated by fees because Jessica is under age 25). And while Jessica's mother is with her in Wisconsin, Mrs. Williams suffers from a neurological condition that prevents her from participating actively in Michael's care.

Michael's condition is sensitive and in flux right now, and while Jessica had hoped to relocate him to a Louisiana hospital, his doctors are not sure if (or when) this could be possible. He faces a long medical road ahead on his path to recovery.

While Jessica is on a waiting list for the hospital lodging for patient families, she has been advised that it will likely be at least another week before she and her mother will be offered a room. In the meantime, I hope that we can provide financial support to ease the burden of the incidental expenses during this time of crisis.

I taught Jessica twice during her high school years and can attest to the light she provides to the world. Any little bit that we can pool together can make a heartbreaking time softer for her and her family.
