On August 5, 2026, Jessica and her fiancé Fred experienced every parent’s worst nightmare. They trusted two friends to watch their 1-month-old son, Elijah, for the first time so they could run errands and work to provide for their family. When they came home, their baby had suffered devastating injuries and is now fighting for his life with cerebral edema caused by shaken baby syndrome. Their little boy has been through so many procedures already. He can barely open his eyes, his movements are very limited, and his response level is low, but he is still fighting with all the strength his parents know he has.
