Help Jessica and Cody during Baby H’s Recovery
Donation protected
Thanks for taking a look at Jessica & Cody’s situation and considering a donation to help them.
Hi, my name is Jeanette and I have started this Go Fund Me page to help raise money for a co-worker Jessica and her family. I am and RPN and have worked with Jessica for the past 6 years in Long Term Care in Chatham, Ontario caring for the elderly. During the past 2 years, working in health care, during this pandemic has been a tough road for Jessica but since becoming pregnant and learning of baby H’s heart condition, her road just got tougher. Baby H is due April 2022.
At Jessica's routine anatomy scan (19 weeks pregnant), she was told they would need another scan due to the baby not being in a position to get all the images they needed.
After a second scan, Jessica met with her OB who explained there were concerns with the baby’s heart and he had sent paperwork to London Hospital for the baby to have a fetal echo. (Ultrasound to better see his heart)
The OB explained a few different outcomes:
1 .It could be nothing, just bad imaging.
2. A mild heart defect
3. Transposition of The Great Arteries.
Receiving this news and not knowing the possible outcomes was a shock and devastating to Jessica and her fiancé Cody, but having two other small children, they were optimistic and prepared for their next appointment.
On December 14th 2021 Jessica went to London for the fetal echo and afterwards, was given confirmation that the baby has Transposition of the great arteries. This means the vessels arise from the wrong ventricle. They are "transposed" from their normal position. The aorta arises from the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery from the left. The Great Arteries are reversed.
Flooded with information, appointments, and further scans and testing, Jessica also learned the baby would require surgery within days of being born. The surgery will take place at Toronto Sick Kids Hospital which means Jessica will have to be induced at 38 weeks pregnant and deliver at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. This is hours away from her home and family.
The baby will need to spend at minimum a month in hospital following his birth to recover, which means Jessica will have to find accommodations in the city to be with him, adding a financial strain on her family.
Jessica is a loving and caring mom and her family means the world to her. We are hoping to raise enough money to help pay her hotel and hopefully her travel cost while in Toronto so she can be with her baby. They certainly do not have the extra money for this added cost!
When Baby H is born, we will keep everyone updated on his condition and progress.
Please consider helping this family raise the money for the added cost of travel and hotel accommodations while their newborn recovers. Any amount would be greatly appreciated by this family.
Thank you!!
