help jessica afford medical care
Donation protected
hello, my name is jessica and i am 17 years old. i have severe-very severe me/cfs. i developed me/cfs november 2022 following an acute respiratory viral infection. in the first couple of months, my symptoms were so mild that it was easy to shrug them off and push through them for school, extracurriculars, social events, etc. however, this january, after two weeks of school in my new spring semester, the overexertion was too much, and my condition deteriorated rapidly. forced to drop out of school, i went to many doctors appointments to try to figure out what was wrong with me. however, my doctors, who are not knowledgeable about me/cfs, repeatedly told me that my illness was psychosomatic. all the doctors appointments and tests worsened my state until now.
i am 100% bedbound and spend my days almost exclusive in a dark and silent world. i cannot tolerate much light or sound. i cannot sit up, or get to the bathroom or eat by myself. i am in moderate pain almost 24/7. it is a lonely and heartbreaking way to live.
how does one cope with knowing that their life is over before it has begun? i was headed to vanderbilt university to study mathematics and creative writing. i was an athlete, boxing and running. i had dreams and goals that i grieve every single day.
i created this gofundme to support my family through this time. this has been just as hard on them as it has been for me. my mom quit her job to become my full time caretaker, and i want to help my parents a little financially.
my current doctors do not understand me/cfs, and i want to see me/cfs experts who may be able to treat me or alleviate my condition. out of network doctors are expensive, and i am asking for your help. under any other circumstances, i wouldn’t ask for money, and this is very hard for me to do. if you are not able to donate, please share and wear a mask, stay safe and healthy.
i can 100% guarantee that the money i get will all go towards medical care (appts w me/cfs experts, treatments, tests, hospital stays, etc).
thank you, a million times over.
