Hello everyone, my name is Tina. I am Jessenia’s mom.
About two weeks ago, Jess slipped and fell down 16 steps of stairs. Unfortunately, she has two compression fractures (T12 and L1) from falling down the stairs. Her doctor told her he would like to fix these fractures by doing a kyphoplasty (a minimally invasive procedure). Unfortunately, her insurance doesn’t want to pay for it. They said she does not meet medical necessity, which is ridiculous since she has two fractures in her vertebrae. They expect her to sit home for three to four months with a back brace and pain meds and let it heal on its own.
Jess has been in a great amount of pain and expresses how the pain radiates towards her ribs, both hips, and the coccyx area. Her doctor said we can still pursue the procedure, but it would have to be out of pocket, which we don’t have at the moment. I usually wouldn’t do this, but my daughter is in a lot of pain and I figured I can try to help the best way I can, so I’m giving this a shot. Anything will help, whether it’s $1 or 50 cents. Thank you all, and we truly appreciate it.
