Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
For those of you who know me, you might recognize that I’m generally a private person. However, today, I find myself in a situation where I must set aside my pride and reach out for help.
For the past 14 years, I have been living with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), a rare autoimmune liver disease. While my journey has had its ups and downs, I have been blessed with a wonderful team at the Mayo Clinic, where I currently receive care. Over the past year, my health has taken a significant decline, leading to numerous hospital visits. At the time of writing this, I’m on day 40 of being hospitalized at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Az. I am staying positive and hopeful for what lies ahead.
I am preparing to begin the liver transplant evaluation process, which will require me and my caregiver—my amazing mother—to be in Phoenix for three weeks. After that, we will need to stay on the Mayo campus for 1-2 months after the transplant itself. This journey ahead will be long and challenging, but I remain optimistic and determined to embrace this new chapter in my life.
The expenses associated with this process are substantial. In addition to medical costs, I will need to hire caregivers, make necessary modifications to my home for safety, and cover basic living expenses while my family and I focus on my healing.
Having worked as a hospice nurse, I have always put others before myself. Now, I find myself in the position of needing support. I kindly ask for your help—whether through financial contributions, prayers, words of encouragement, sharing my page, or local support.
I am genuinely grateful for any assistance you can offer as I look forward to the gift of life that a healthy liver will bring. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being part of my journey.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Jesseca
God bless!
