Helping the McComas's

UPDATE: By now, many of you have heard that Jesse passed peacefully with his wife Taylor at his side on March 7, 2025. They were so very humbled and grateful by all of the assistance everyone sent to help fund his fight in all the ways possible. While we can take comfort in knowing Jesse is no longer in pain, the reality of life on earth is that he now leaves behind a wife and 1 month old son, Reese. I am calling on you once again to help support them as they find a "new normal" and adjust to life without his physical presence. If you are inclined and able, please consider sending a donation to lift them up.

TLDR; Jesse is once again in the fight of his life against this aggressive and elusive cancer. He has exhausted the known treatments and then some. Jesse and his wife, Taylor, have sought input from experts worldwide in their quest to finally beat cancer for good. The next round of treatments they are going to pursue are unfortunately not covered by insurance. If you are able, please consider donating so that they can focus on fighting and healing- without the burden of finances playing a role in what they are able to accomplish. If you're not able to contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser and sending prayers are appreciated just as much. Jesse and Taylor are thankful for the love and support of all of their family and friends throughout this journey. Help us lift them up.

The full story:
In February of 2021, Jesse started to exhibit symptoms of what was assumed to be a mild sinus infection. A stuffy nose that wasn’t going away didn’t initially seem like a cause for concern, until Jesse felt what appeared to be a swollen lymph node in his neck. At this point, Jesse had battled cancer twice in his life, lymphoma at age 10 and Rhabdomyosarcoma at 16. Both took a toll on him, but he survived, and he had since lived it up, launched his career in 2016, and in 2018 he married Taylor. Together, he and Taylor worked to build the life they had dreamed of.

Dreams felt cut short when the swollen lymph node was confirmed a recurrence of the Rhabdomyosarcoma, Alveolar type. There was a primary tumor in his right maxillary sinus, which had spread to his sphenoid sinus and metastasized to his lungs and clavicle. Jesse underwent chemotherapy and radiation. In August of 2022, scans showed Jesse was cancer free. However, celebration was short lived. On September 21, 2022, 4 months after finishing treatment, Taylor received the dreaded call. Jesse had felt a lump. The Rhabdo was back, this time in both testicles with spread to lymph nodes in the abdomen. Jesse received a double orchiectomy and additional chemo, followed by more radiation. It’s now August 2023 and Jesse is in the final weeks of radiation to his abdomen. There were no Iumps or bumps, but his voice began to change. Jesse and Taylor’s lives were flipped upside down for the third time when a CT scan showed more cancer; this time a tumor growing over his vocal chords and compromising his airway, along with another tumor growing along his trachea, multiple metastasis throughout the chest and regional lymph nodes, and a tumor behind his right eye. It’s been almost 2 months since Jesse’s most recent diagnosis and hospital stay. Things seemed to be going well, the chemo seemed to be shrinking the tumor in the throat based on symptoms, until last week. Symptoms of airway obstruction have came back, and again, scans confirmed disease, this time signifying a resistance to the chemo.

It’s hard to fathom someone so young and otherwise healthy to be plagued with cancer. Cancer and it’s treatment goes beyond the hospital stays and the medications, it’s robbed Jesse and Taylor of the life they worked hard to achieve and the ambitions they shared; starting a family, advancing careers, experiencing life. Yet still, their faith will not waiver, and they are not giving up. The couple has been given an opportunity to pursue a treatment option for Jesse that they hope and believe could give Jesse his life back, cancer free. While still undergoing clinical trials and research, the treatment, while promising, is not covered under insurance.
