As Chief Curator of the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, MA, Jesse Kowalski worked for two years to organize a major exhibition on the Holocaust aimed at teens in the Berkshires after swastikas were found at local public schools. This exhibition was not only to serve a vital educational purpose—Massachusetts has among the highest numbers of antisemitic attacks in the nation—but would have provided a struggling Museum with tremendous financial benefit. Then, despite a spotless performance record, in September 2025, Jesse was suddenly terminated after reporting a supervisor who made numerous antisemitic remarks, including about the Holocaust exhibition. Now, due to a wrongful denial of Jesse's unemployment benefits based on false reports of "insubordination," Jesse and his family have been without desperately needed financial aid for five months as he searches for a new position and fights the injustices he has suffered.
With the support of the National Jewish Advocacy Center, Jesse is fighting for the money he is owed, for his reputation, and for the ability to complete the exhibition about which he cares so deeply.
He and his family have borrowed all they can from their retirement, but will run out of money by mid-March. Please support Jesse Kowalski and his family during this time.
Expenses raised above those needed to pay bills will be used to finance the completion of his work on the Holocaust exhibition and/or donated to further Holocaust education in schools.
Thank you,
Darrell English
