My husband Jesse is the strongest man I know. He’s never liked asking for help, but right now, we are in desperate need. Jesse was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease at age 9, and by 14, he had to have his entire large bowel removed. From that young age, he’s lived with an irreversible ostomy bag and has endured five more major bowel surgeries and resections. Now, at 45, Jesse can no longer absorb nutrients the normal way and has exhausted the use of TPN for nutrition due to a fatty liver. We have run out of other options, and a total bowel transplant is our last hope to extend our life together as husband and wife.

The surgeons are no longer able to operate, as his small bowel is riddled with lesions and active disease. We are now looking into traveling to places where more options are available. The costs are overwhelming—traveling to and from appointments, staying in motels or hotels, and both of us missing work while we pursue this life-saving option. Medical bills are piling up, but that’s a chance we’re willing to take for Jesse’s future. At 5’8” and only 118 lbs, Jesse is drastically losing weight and struggling every day. All he’s ever wanted is to work, provide for his family, and live a normal life—things most people take for granted.
