Help Jesse Fisher Fight Thyroid Cancer & Medical Expenses

Our beloved Jesse has recently been diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer, a diagnosis that caught us all by surprise. It all began when he noticed his voice was hoarse, making it difficult for him to sing—a passion of his. Not long after, he noticed a sizable lump near his thyroid. While his initial bloodwork and tests showed promising signs of a benign outcome, the story took an unexpected turn.

When Jesse underwent surgery to remove the mass, the doctors also removed half of his thyroid. Despite our hopes, pathology revealed that the mass was indeed cancerous. Now, Jesse faces a second surgery on December 20 to remove the remaining thyroid tissue, pending further analysis.

Jesse has health insurance through his job, but it only covers a portion of the mounting medical expenses. He’s already incurred thousands in bills just to meet his deductible and out-of-pocket maximums. To make matters more challenging, Jesse was out of work for four weeks following his first surgery, and his contracted outdoor guiding job doesn’t offer paid sick leave or vacation days. At the luxury resort where he is an outdoor guide, he also plays music once a week at one of their restaurants, which is a significant portion of his income. If he requires this second surgery, it will mean another 3-4 weeks without pay for either of those positions—adding another financial hardship on top of the medical costs.

Jesse's insurance deductible and out-of-pocket maximums reset annually on January 1, 2025, which means he is already looking at expenses for ongoing labs, tests, and monitoring for the rest of his life.

Jesse is the kind of person who brings warmth and joy to everyone he meets. He has a heart of gold and is loved by so many for his kindness, generosity, and unbreakable spirit. Now, we are rallying around him to ease the financial burden he’s facing so he can focus on healing and getting back to doing what he loves.
